An
Unselfish Gift
(paraphrased
stanzas from An Unselfish Gift by Gwen Mays)
She
was doing fine as a public servant in the midst.
But
she saw a need for her talents and just couldn’t resist.
Yes,
she saw people in binds, who seemed to have no way out.
But
she knew she had to help.
In this fact, she had no doubt.
Who
else but Mrs. Jenkins would do things like that
What
humble and unselfish acts!
Yes,
this lady that I’m speaking about when I say kindhearted, true
and bold.
When
she decided to give herself in those glorious days of old.
On
the campus of Jackson High, she boldly stood
In
the church, the community, and every neighborhood.
The
world received a precious gift the day she was born.
Just
as Galilee received the same as they listened to her voice upon
Sunday morn.
Yes,
there are times when we all need a lift!
So,
I ask you to stop, pause, and cherish the memories of
Thelma
Wilson Jenkins,
Unselfish Gift.
